Norway wealth fund to vote for human rights report at Microsoft AGM
SUMMARY
Norway's $2 trillion wealth fund plans to support a shareholder proposal at Microsoft’s upcoming annual meeting. The proposal calls for a report on the risks of operating in countries with significant human rights issues. Despite this, Microsoft management has advised shareholders to vote against it.
The fund will also oppose the re-appointment of CEO Satya Nadella as chair and his pay package. It holds a 1.35% stake in Microsoft, valued at $50 billion, making it the company's eighth-largest shareholder. The vote on these motions will take place on December 5.
