Boeing wins $289 million Israel contract for 5,000 smart bombs

Boeing has secured a $298 million contract with Israel for up to 5,000 Small Diameter Bombs, guided munitions launched from Israeli jets. Deliveries are not expected to begin for 36 months and are unrelated to ongoing US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

This sale follows Israel's earlier request for 2,166 bombs, which the State Department acknowledged in February 2025. Boeing had previously dispatched about 1,000 bombs to Israel after the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks.

The deal is a direct commercial sale, not a formal foreign military sale. It was not included in a recent State Department release concerning another military sale of BLU-110 bomb casings.
