China's Orienspace rocket launches 3 satellites

SUMMARY

Chinese startup Orienspace successfully launched its Gravity-1 solid rocket from a barge in the Yellow Sea on October 10. The rocket carried three satellites into near-polar orbits, including the Jilin-1 Earth observation satellite and two satellites from Geespace, the automotive company's space division.

This marks Orienspace's second orbital mission since its founding in 2020. The Gravity-1 rocket can lift significant payloads and has undergone various upgrades to improve reliability. Orienspace aims to secure contracts for China’s satellite megaconstellations and plans to test its Gravity-2 rocket by the end of the year.
