Macron to present new French national service plan

President Emmanuel Macron plans to announce a new voluntary military service aimed at increasing army numbers. The scheme is expected to last 10 months and offer remuneration. Current national service includes only two weeks of training followed by two weeks of community work, but has not gained popularity. Political figures support the proposal but suggest it could be broadened into a universal service.
