Turkey nears preliminary deal for Eurofighter combat jets

Turkey may soon announce a preliminary deal for 40 Eurofighter Typhoon jets, estimated to be worth around $5.6 billion. President Tayyip Erdogan noted that Germany and Britain have shown positive support for the sale. He expressed optimism about finalizing the purchase quickly, stating, "God willing, I believe we will receive our jet planes as soon as possible."

Erdogan mentioned that discussions with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also indicated a hopeful approach to the negotiations. This deal would benefit Europe’s defense industry amid the overshadowing presence of the U.S. F-35 program.
