Cambodia and Thailand sign expanded ceasefire

Thailand and Cambodia signed a ceasefire deal on Sunday, facilitated by US President Donald Trump, who has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for his role. This agreement builds on a previous truce initiated after Trump urged both nations to end their conflict that resulted in 48 deaths and displaced 300,000 people.

At an ASEAN summit, Trump praised the leaders, claiming the truce saved "millions of lives." The deal includes military de-escalation, withdrawal of heavy weapons, and the establishment of an ASEAN observer team. Thailand will release 18 Cambodian prisoners if the terms are followed.

Both leaders expressed commitment to peaceful resolutions, regardless of the complexity of their disputes.
