Spy agencies reopen 'racist' internship that bans white Britons

SUMMARY

Britain's intelligence agencies have resumed a summer internship program that excludes white applicants. The MI5, MI6, and GCHQ Summer Intelligence Internship, started in 2023, aims to attract candidates from "Black, Asian, mixed heritage or ethnic minority backgrounds" and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Critics, including shadow home secretary Chris Philp, call it "racist," arguing it unfairly bars white Britons. Claire Coutinho added that the scheme discriminates against individuals based on their background, advocating for merit-based selection.

Despite backlash, the program continues to promote diversity within the organizations. Recent controversies have raised concerns over recruitment policies favoring diversity over competence.
