You can now send money to the US government to help pay down national debt

SUMMARY

The US Treasury is now accepting donations via Venmo and PayPal to address the $36.7 trillion national debt. This program, active since 1996, has seen a total of $67.3 million in contributions, which many critics argue is negligible.

Samson Mow likened this effort to "sending Bitcoin to a burn address." Public concerns are rising as the debt has surged significantly since 2010.

Ray Dalio warns of a fiscal crisis unless the budget deficit is reduced from 7% to 3% of GDP, advocating for bipartisan action.

Despite this, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent claims tax and trade policies will lower the deficit over the next decade.
