Half of public think Islam not compatible with British values

SUMMARY

A recent survey reveals that over 50% of the British public believe Islam is incompatible with British values, while four in 10 perceive Muslim immigrants as having a negative impact on the country. Only 24% feel that Muslim immigrants contribute positively. Comparatively, negative sentiments toward other religious immigrant groups are significantly lower.

Angela Rayner, Deputy Prime Minister, acknowledged the public's concerns about immigration affecting society. Sabah Ahmedi, a young imam, expressed worry over anti-Muslim sentiment, attributing it to a lack of understanding. He urged people to meet Muslims to dispel fears. The survey was commissioned by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community ahead of a major convention in the UK.
