Trump-pardoned Charles Kushner confirmed for key diplomatic role

Charles Kushner, a New Jersey real estate developer, has been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the ambassador to France and Monaco with a 51-45 vote. Kushner, who was previously pardoned by Donald Trump for tax evasion, witness tampering and election violations, founded Kushner Companies in 1985.

He is known for his philanthropy, particularly to Jewish causes and institutions. During his confirmation hearing, Kushner stated, "I think that my past mistakes actually make me… better in my values to really make me more qualified to do this job."
