US moves warships closer to Israel

SUMMARY

The U.S. is reallocating military resources in the Middle East following Israel’s strikes on Iran and possible retaliation from Tehran. The Navy is sending the destroyer USS Thomas Hudner and another destroyer to the Eastern Mediterranean for potential support.

These ships can defend against missile attacks and add security for U.S. assets in the region. They previously helped counter Iranian missile threats to Israel.

Although the Pentagon has shifted some firepower to the Middle East recently, the naval presence decreased due to the return of the Harry S. Truman carrier strike group to Virginia, leaving the Carl Vinson strike group in the Arabian Sea.
