China applies to put 200,000 satellites in space
SUMMARY
China plans to launch over 200,000 internet satellites, filing submissions with the International Telecommunication Union. This move comes as Beijing criticizes SpaceX for overcrowding orbital resources. Major projects include CTC-1 and CTC-2, each proposing 96,714 satellites. The Institute of Radio Spectrum Utilisation and Technological Innovation, recently registered in Hebei, submitted these filings.
The U.S. leads in satellite deployments, with SpaceX's Starlink constellation dominating low Earth orbit. The FCC recently approved SpaceX to launch 7,500 additional satellites, increasing its total to 15,000. SpaceX has also proposed another 30,000 satellites, awaiting a decision.
