Pentagon quietly blocked Ukraine's Long-Range Missile strikes on Russia
The Pentagon has restricted Ukraine from using U.S.-made long-range missiles, namely the ATACMS, to target Russia. This approval process has limited Ukraine's military operations as the U.S. aims to engage the Kremlin in peace talks.
While Ukraine sought to use ATACMS on Russian territory, their requests were denied. Trump asserted that Ukraine can't defeat Russia without "attacking" it directly. Current weapons supply and approval procedures remain in place, despite potential indications from Trump that he may shift policy concerning offensive operations.
Ukraine is developing its own long-range systems and has been supplied with new air-launched missiles, though these too require Pentagon approval. The review process assesses U.S. weapon stockpiles, determining what can be shared with Kyiv.
