State security investigates the raising of German flags

German state security has launched an investigation after "numerous German flags were hoisted" in the municipality of Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde on Saturday night.

The local government has removed the flags and filed a police report. The mayor, Birgit Tupat, expressed concern about a potential "far-right motive" behind the actions.

A sign stating, “National pride is not a crime,” was found beneath one flag. The police are seeking witnesses who might have seen suspicious activity.

This incident may be linked to a viral social media campaign encouraging similar flag-raising actions under hashtags like #Hissdieflagge.
