Old Dominion shooting suspect is ex-Army National Guard member with past terror conviction

The suspect in the Old Dominion University shooting is identified as Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former U.S. Army National Guard member with a prior terror conviction. Jalloh, 27, had pleaded guilty in 2016 to attempting to support ISIS and served 11 years in prison, being released in December 2024.

During the incident, one person died and two others were injured in a classroom shooting at the university. The shooter was also found dead at the scene. The victims included members of the Army Reserve Officers’ Training Corps.

The university has canceled classes and ongoing operations, while counseling services are being provided for students affected by the tragedy.
