DOJ launches grand jury investigation into russiagate conspiracy

Attorney General Bondi has launched a grand jury probe into allegations that Obama-era officials fabricated a narrative tying Trump to Russia in 2016. Sparked by Director of National Intelligence Gabbard’s criminal referral, the investigation targets potential fraud and false statements by intelligence officials.

Gabbard’s declassified documents reveal Obama’s December 2016 directive to craft an intelligence assessment claiming Russian interference aimed to aid Trump. Gabbard stated, “Former President Barack Obama and his intelligence officials allegedly promoted a contrived narrative that Russia interfered in the 2016 election to help President Trump win, selling it to the American people as though it were true. It wasn't.”

No charges are filed yet; the grand jury will assess evidence for possible indictments. Brennan, Clapper, and Comey face scrutiny for their roles.

Bondi’s letter, per a source, confirms a federal prosecutor is tasked with presenting DOJ evidence. A DOJ spokesperson noted Bondi takes Gabbard’s referral “very seriously,” citing “clear cause for deep concern.”

The probe follows Gabbard’s July declassification, exposing contradictions in claims of Russian election impact, which the assessment admitted did not alter the 2016 outcome but aimed to undermine trust in democracy.
