Ford to invest $370 million in India defying Trump's local push

SUMMARY

Ford Motor Co. will invest about 32.5 billion rupees ($370 million) in India to revive its Maraimalai Nagar factory, shut down four years ago. The updated facility will produce high-end engines for export, with a capacity of over 200,000 units annually.

These engines won't be sent to the US, and an announcement regarding export markets is expected soon. Ford’s CEO Jim Farley is showing renewed confidence in India as a manufacturing location after previous struggles in the market.

Despite political tensions, many US companies are increasing their presence in India, with Tamil Nadu being a key industrial hub for automakers.
