SUMMARY

New geophysical surveys of Tutankhamun’s tomb (KV62) suggest a “hidden complex” of corridors and rooms lies beyond its north wall, possibly predating Tutankhamun’s burial and reopening the debate that Nefertiti’s tomb may be concealed there.

Researchers used ground-penetrating radar, microgravity measurements and electrical-resistivity data to identify low-density, right-angled anomalies including a 2-metre rubble-filled corridor and a square high-density feature that could be a chamber with contents.

Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities must approve limited drilling to deploy camera-equipped mini-tractors if investigations proceed.
