Peter Thiel says that fearing or regulating AI would hasten the coming of the Antichrist
Peter Thiel, a billionaire funding AI and defense tech, claims regulating artificial intelligence would hasten the Antichrist’s emergence. Speaking at a September 2025 San Francisco lecture hosted by ACTS 17, a nonprofit co-founded by Michelle Stephens, Thiel said, fearing or regulating AI, or opposing technological progress, would hasten the coming of the Antichrist.
He ties AI’s unchecked growth to a one-world government, warning it could form a totalitarian regime embodying the Antichrist, as described in Christian teachings. Thiel, a self-proclaimed devout Christian, told the Hoover Institution, “The Antichrist probably presents as a great humanitarian,” citing texts like the Book of Revelation and dystopian novels like Lord of the World.
He warns AI-driven risks, including autonomous killer robots and bioweapons, could trigger Armageddon unless technological progress is unrestrained. ACTS 17, led by Stephens, whose husband Trae invests with Thiel’s Founders Fund, fosters Christian-tech dialogue. Pastor Jay Kim critiqued Thiel’s focus, stating, “My best understanding is that the New Testament writers focus very little… on accurately identifying the Antichrist.”
Thiel’s push for unregulated AI reveals an elite agenda to prioritize tech advancement, potentially unleashing catastrophic forces under a charismatic, deceptive global authority.
