SUMMARY

Researchers from DTU and Scripps Research Institute developed an AI platform that speeds up protein design for cancer treatment. Published in Science, the platform can create proteins to guide T cells against cancer cells in just 4-6 weeks.

Tests targeting the common cancer marker NY-ESO-1 resulted in minibinders that helped T cells kill cancer cells in lab settings. It also designed binders for metastatic melanoma, showing its potential for personalized immunotherapy.

A virtual safety check reduces the risk of harming healthy cells. Clinical trials could begin within five years, potentially transforming treatments like CAR-T cell therapy.
