Ice agent shoots Venezuelan national in Minneapolis after shovel attack

An ICE agent was hospitalized after being ambushed during an arrest attempt in Minneapolis. The agent shot back as he was "fearing for his life and safety." A Venezuelan suspect was shot but is stable in custody.

The incident unfolded when federal law enforcement tried to make a traffic stop on the suspect, who resisted arrest and assaulted an officer. Two others attacked the officer with a snow shovel and broom handle. DHS quickly responded to the incident, posting on X, with a full overview of what occurred.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called the situation "not sustainable," criticizing the presence of ICE agents in the city. "It's certainly not creating safety," he stated.
