Smartphones and computers are now exempt from Trump's latest tariffs

SUMMARY

Electronics imported to the U.S. are now exempt from President Trump's tariffs, according to a Customs and Border Protection notice. This includes smartphones, computer monitors, and various electronic parts for products entering the U.S. from April 5.

These exemptions follow the imposition of a 145% minimum tariff rate on Chinese goods, which would substantially affect major tech companies like Apple. Currently, Apple relies on China for about 90% of its iPhone production.

Experts warn that once existing inventory diminishes, "prices are expected to go up."
