SUMMARY

Germany’s finance ministry is seeking extra €100 million ($113 million) to repair Ukraine’s water, energy and transport networks, according to a letter to the parliamentary budget committee.

The money would come on top of Ukraine funding already in the 2026 budget and €250 million set aside in September for the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. The ministry called the need “unforeseen,” citing increasingly intense Russian strikes since July on cities, transport routes and businesses.

It said 80% of Ukraine’s power generation capacity has been destroyed since 2022. The funds would cover decentralized power equipment, utility repairs, firefighting gear and school rebuilding.
