'1 million arrests'
SUMMARY

The Trump administration is expanding its immigrant-detention network significantly, adding thousands of beds through agreements with various jails and private contractors. Since Trump took office, about 60 additional facilities, including five run by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, are now holding detained migrants.

With a goal of over one million arrests annually, the administration has increased capacity, holding more than 59,000 people as of late June. Florida opened a tent complex, labeled “Alligator Alcatraz,” expected to accommodate up to 3,000 migrants.

Arrests surged to 1,000 daily in June, aided by collaboration between ICE and other federal agencies.
