SUMMARY

Parisians can now legally swim in the Seine for the first time in over a century, with three designated swimming areas set to open.

This follows a €1.4 billion cleanup that allowed the river to meet European water quality standards ahead of the 2024 Olympics. "Green means the water quality is good," said Paris Deputy Mayor Pierre Rabadan.Swimming will be available until the end of August, with lifeguards on duty.

Though some residents are skeptical about water quality, many are hopeful. Clea Montanari expressed, "It’d be a dream if the Seine becomes drinkable."
