SUMMARY

Alaska Gov. Mike Dunleavy wouldn’t commit Thursday to certifying the US Senate race if Democrat Mary Peltola wins. The race is under investigation over claims that Democratic operatives recruited a second candidate named Dan Sullivan to pull votes from the Republican incumbent.

“We’re going to ensure that we aren’t going to send a scam to Washington,” Dunleavy said.

The New York Times reported that Peltola aides helped recruit the candidate. Peltola denies involvement. State police, House Oversight Chair James Comer and the Justice Department are all investigating or pursuing action.

Dunleavy leaves office Dec. 7, shortly after the certification deadline.
