Anthropic warns 'climate change' could drive up AI cooling costs

SUMMARY

Anthropic is warning investors that climate change could make running its business more expensive. In the S-1 filing it submitted Monday ahead of its public offering, the AI company listed climate and environmental concerns among its risk factors, a nod to the enormous energy demands of its operations.

As average temperatures rise, the data centers that power its AI models need more electricity and water to keep equipment cool, the company said, and those added demands could push up operating costs.

The disclosure arrives as Anthropic prepares for an offering that could reportedly value it at up to $2 trillion.
