SUMMARY

Golden Pass LNG, a joint venture of Exxon Mobil and QatarEnergy, seeks U.S. approval to re-export liquefied natural gas (LNG) as its Texas facility prepares to start production.

The company aims to import LNG to cool the Sabine Pass export facility, a necessary step before full operations.

The project, with an 18 million metric tons per annum capacity, has faced delays and cost overruns, including a $2.4 billion budget issue leading to the bankruptcy of its original contractor, Zachry Holdings, in March 2024.

McDermott International has since taken over as the lead contractor.
