Kirk McConnell, a retired intelligence staff member, confirmed whistleblower testimony about secret programs to reverse-engineer non-human craft. This led to the introduction of the bipartisan Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena Disclosure Act, which mandates the government to retrieve and disclose UFOs and biological evidence.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer stated that "multiple credible sources" have alleged the government has withheld UFO information.
