Scientist calls to cut off air conditioning in summer, claiming it causes global warming

Stan Cox, an Ecosphere Fellow, encourages Americans to stop using air conditioning to fight climate change.

In a New York Times essay, he states that "air-conditioning is making our summers even hotter." Cox shares his personal experience of coping without AC for 25 years.

He uses water sprays and electric fans for relief. He also minimizes appliance use to reduce heat. His refrigerator is set just below 40 degrees. Cox believes people can adapt and find comfort in warmer temperatures over time.
