US announces $1.7 billion in military aid to Ukraine

The Pentagon has announced a new $1.7 billion military assistance package for Ukraine, which includes missiles and ammunition to aid in countering Russia's invasion.

This package features $200 million in immediate assistance and $1.5 billion in long-term support.

Included are surface-to-air missiles, air defense munitions, HIMARS rockets, and anti-tank weapons.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the urgency of this aid, stating, “The United States is sending Ukraine a significant new package of urgently needed weapons.”

Ukrainian President Zelensky expressed gratitude, noting this aid's crucial role in sustaining defenses and saving lives.

He remarked that the support reflects America's strength against aggression.
