Harris campaign 'tweaks' Walz biography amid scrutiny of military credentials

SUMMARY

Kamala Harris' campaign has updated Tim Walz's biography to clarify his military service following Republican scrutiny. The biography no longer labels him as a "retired command sergeant major," instead stating he served at that rank.

Walz, Minnesota's governor and a 24-year Army National Guard veteran, retired in 2005 to join Congress. GOP nominee JD Vance has alleged that Walz exaggerated his credentials.

After facing similar accusations in past campaigns, Walz won his 2018 gubernatorial race. The revised biography maintains that Walz was the son of an Army veteran and contributed to veterans' legislation while serving on the House Veterans Affairs Committee.
