Norway's King Harald dies aged 89

Norway’s King Harald V has died at 89 after being hospitalized for a rare blood condition. He passed away peacefully at the national hospital in Oslo. The royal flag is at half-mast, with crowds gathering to pay their respects.

Harald, Norway's first king born in the country since the 14th century, is succeeded by his son, Haakon. He was a beloved figure, known for modernizing the monarchy and for his emotional support in times of national tragedy, including the 2011 terror attacks.

King Charles III and Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf expressed their condolences. Harald is survived by his wife Queen Sonja, their children, and grandchildren.
