Petrochemical plant blast in Hungary leaves one dead

An explosion at a Hungarian petrochemical plant killed one person and injured seven others in Tiszaújváros. The incident occurred during the restart of a production unit after maintenance.

Prime Minister Péter Magyar reported that the damaged pipeline was “currently burning like a torch,” but no hazardous substances above safety limits were detected.

He expressed condolences to the victim's family and wished the injured a swift recovery. MOL stated that experts are investigating the cause of the explosion. Firefighters were dispatched to cool the damaged system, while air quality measurements were taken.
