EU chief unveils $232 million Greenland package

SUMMARY

The European Commission announced a €200 million partnership deal with Greenland on Monday, emphasizing the island's strategic importance to the EU. President Ursula von der Leyen stated that "Greenland can count on the EU," highlighting the results of their close cooperation.

The financial package will focus on digital connectivity, sustainable mining, energy, tourism, education, fisheries, and housing, aiming to create new opportunities in Greenland and the Arctic.

Von der Leyen's visit to Greenland comes as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to insist that Greenland should belong to the United States.
