Former Cambridge professor accused of plagiarism found dead

A former University of Cambridge professor, Jason Arday, was found dead in South London shortly after resigning amid a plagiarism scandal. At 41, Arday had been the youngest Black professor at Cambridge. His resignation followed allegations that he plagiarized parts of his doctoral thesis, which were highlighted in a British newspaper.

London's Metropolitan Police stated his death is being treated as unexpected but not suspicious. Arday claimed he was misrepresented as “a liar and a fantasist," stating the scrutiny had taken a significant personal toll. His memoir, "Great and Unfortunate Things," recently released in the U.S., is under review.
