'90% enrichment'
Iran threatens to 'teach a lesson' if US attacks
SUMMARY
Iran may increase its uranium enrichment to 90% purity, the level needed for nuclear weapons, if attacked again, according to lawmaker, and spokesman for Iran's National Security Commission, Ebrahim Rezaei. He mentioned this possibility in a post on X, stating it will be reviewed in parliament.
As of June 2025, Iran reportedly has around 970 pounds of uranium enriched to 60%. This amount could facilitate the creation of approximately 10 nuclear weapons. Under the 2015 nuclear deal, Iran's enrichment was limited and monitored by the International Atomic Energy Agency. However, Iran began enriching uranium to 60% following the U.S. withdrawal from the deal under President Trump.
