Yemen's Mocha port halts operations

Yemen's Mocha port has halted commercial and maritime operations after over 25 missiles hit it in Houthi attacks. The strikes resulted in seven deaths and $16 million in damages. Mocha, near the strategic Bab el-Mandab strait, is controlled by the recognized government but handles less cargo than Aden and Hodeidah ports.

The Houthis claim they targeted military assets of Saudi-backed forces, while Yemen’s government reported civilian casualties. This escalation follows rising regional tensions and concerns about a renewed large-scale conflict in Yemen, which had seen reduced fighting after a truce in 2022.
