SUMMARY

Libya’s eastern government has expelled a delegation from the EU, including migration commissioner Magnus Brunner and ministers from Italy, Malta, and Greece. This action was taken after the delegation allegedly breached Libyan laws regarding foreign diplomatic personnel's entry and residency.

Prime Minister Osama Hammad stated that the officials were declared persona non grata and ordered to leave the country. The EU team had planned to meet with Hammad’s Government of National Stability after discussing migration issues with the Tripoli-based government. Libya remains divided and struggles with illegal migration and human trafficking amidst ongoing conflict.
