SUMMARY

The BBC has a "Black Sky" plan to run a special radio studio of about 100 staff to broadcast government messages if major infrastructure fails. The service will use FM radio and satellite links to operate during blackouts or cyber-attacks.

The studio will have secure non-internet communications and supplies to run for at least three days.

An insider said, "The latest advice from Neso [National Energy System Operator] is that they will probably be able to get the power back on in two to three days."
