Superdry co-founder James Holder found guilty of rape

James Holder, co-founder of Superdry, was found guilty of raping a woman in Cheltenham. Holder, 54, and a male friend entered the victim's taxi after planning to go home. In her flat, he raped her despite her pleas to stop.

During the trial, Holder claimed the encounter was consensual, but the victim insisted she was raped. Prosecutor James Haskell highlighted the woman's vulnerability due to intoxication. Holder attempted to defend his actions by asserting he was "old-school and chivalrous".

The victim rejected the suggestion that the incident was a regrettable drunken encounter. Holder denied the charges of rape and assault by penetration.
