Man planning mass shooting at a New Orleans festival arrested with hundreds of rounds of ammo

A man was arrested at a Florida hotel for allegedly planning a mass shooting at a large festival in New Orleans. He was found with a handgun and about 200 rounds of ammunition. The suspect, from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, was wanted for making terroristic threats.

The arrest occurred in Destin after federal authorities alerted the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office. The man is considered a fugitive from justice and will be extradited to Louisiana for charges.

Louisiana State Police are investigating with the FBI and have stated there are "no known direct threats to any festivals in Louisiana." Orleans Mayor Healena Moreno praised the inter-state coordination among law enforcement.
