House approves bill to fund the DHS

The House has passed a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security, ending the longest agency shutdown in history. This funding does not include immigration enforcement operations. The White House warned that temporary funding for personnel would soon run out, risking airport disruptions.

DHS has been without regular funds since February 14, causing difficulties for many workers. Rep. Rosa DeLauro commented, “It is about damn time.” The House approved the measure by voice vote, despite previous delays and internal disputes among Republicans. The Senate had approved the bipartisan package a month before.
