Biden backs Keisha Bottoms for Georgia governor

Former President Joe Biden endorsed Keisha Lance Bottoms' campaign for governor of Georgia, marking his first endorsement since leaving office. In a video, Biden praised Bottoms as “smart” and “focused,” noting that she is ready to lead.

Bottoms is competing in a crowded Democratic primary against candidates like Jason Esteves and Michael Thurmond. Although she leads in public polls, it's uncertain if she can gain over 50% of the vote to avoid a runoff after the May 19 primary.

The eventual Democratic nominee will face the GOP candidate, with the Republican primary also featuring multiple contenders. Georgia hasn't elected a Democratic governor since 1999.
