Zuckerberg and his wife buy Gothic castle in Ireland

SUMMARY

Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have bought an Irish castle, a spokesman for the Meta founder confirmed Thursday.

The couple purchased Strancally Castle from the Alen-Buckley family in an off-market deal. The price was not disclosed. Built in 1827, the three-storey Gothic Revival house sits in County Waterford, about 150 kilometres southwest of Dublin, and has been extensively renovated over the past two decades.

The spokesman said the family is excited to continue caring for the historic home and looks forward to spending time in Ireland, where Meta keeps its international headquarters.

They will remain based in the United States and use the property when conducting Meta business in Ireland. The company employs about 1,500 people across the country.
