Meta in talks to lease computing power to Anthropic

SUMMARY

Meta is negotiating to rent computing power from its AI data centers to Anthropic, potentially worth up to $10 billion over two years. Anthropic proposed this deal in June, and payments would occur monthly, with options for early exit. This deal is significantly smaller than Anthropic's $45 billion agreement with SpaceX.

As demand for computing power grows among AI companies, Meta seeks ways to capitalize on its significant investments, projected at $145 billion this year. CEO Mark Zuckerberg indicated that renting out excess computing resources may be a viable revenue stream if Meta overbuilds its infrastructure.

The rush for computing resources is common in the industry as AI firms like Anthropic seek ways to meet increasing customer demands.
