The 'quiet and shy' 28-year-old held over the murder of Ann Widdecombe

Joshua Kerry, a 28-year-old man, is suspected of murdering former Tory minister Ann Widdecombe in a possible terrorist act. He allegedly attacked her in her home in Devon on July 8, 2026.

Kerry lived alone in Rotherham after his father's death, and neighbors described him as "quiet and shy." He was last seen leaving his home shortly before the attack. Police initially treated the case as a burglary but later arrested Kerry for murder and potential terrorism charges after uncovering new evidence.

Detectives are examining his motivation and have designated the incident a targeted attack. Kerry remains in custody for interrogation.
