Vessels attempting to cross Hormuz report gunfire

At least two merchant vessels were hit by gunfire while crossing the Strait of Hormuz, according to maritime sources. This incident occurred after Iran announced it was tightening its military control over the vital waterway. The U.S. continues its blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran's Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, claimed that the navy is ready to deliver "new bitter defeats" to enemies. Amidst the tensions, U.S. President Donald Trump mentioned "some pretty good news" but warned fighting could resume after a ceasefire expires.

Iran had briefly opened the strait following a U.S.-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon. However, due to U.S. actions, Tehran reverted to strict military control over shipping in the strait, citing violations and "piracy."
